PAMOR Indonesia Trust | Independent | Sustainable
PAMOR Indonesia is a participatory guarantee system in organic farming that involves farmers or producers with other parties such as traders, consumers, NGOs, and the government in assessing the quality system according to organic standards. The main actor of the organic guarantee quality system in PAMOR Indonesia is the producers themselves, who are involved in assessing and declaring the conformity of organic farming practices with organic standards. The aim is to provide organic guarantees for local to national markets and prioritize farmer groups.
PAMOR Indonesia is a Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) that has been registered in the International IFOAM directory. The participatory guarantee method to ensure the integrity of organic products was initiated in 2004. It started at the conference of The Latin American Agroecology Movement (MAELA) and the International Federation of Organic Movements (IFOAM) in Brazil. The participatory assurance system (PGS) is a quality assurance system that focuses on local products. PGS certifies producers based on the active participation of stakeholders and is built on trust, social networks, and knowledge exchange (IFOAM definition, 2008).
The parties are involved in building an organic guarantee scheme starting from standards, monitoring systems, implementation, to the evaluation system. This term describes the common concern of many parties for the welfare of producers, security of agricultural products, agricultural sustainability, and livelihoods. This guarantee system supports and encourages farmer groups to work together to improve organic farming practices and maintain local culture and wisdom.
PAMOR Indonesia has developed with reference to the National Organic Standards: SNI-6729-2010, SNI-6729-2013, and the latest SNI-6729-2016. PAMOR Indonesia has also updated systems related to ecological and social aspects through various meetings such as the National PAMOR Meeting which has been held annually since 2016.
The Motto of PAMOR Indonesia
Trusted
PAMOR Indonesia was created to ensure the trust of consumers and parties. The PAMOR Indonesia system emphasizes the assessment or declaration of the producer group itself by ensuring there is a system of mentoring, monitoring, and supervision that allows organic integrity to be maintained. PAMOR Indonesia's system and operations are structured in such a way as to conform to a quality system.
Independent
PAMOR Indonesia is a manifestation of the sovereignty of producers and consumers in the context of guaranteeing organic products. The statement of the sovereignty of organic farmers or producers and consumers over the product's organic quality is important and must continue to be fought for. With the motto of independence, PAMOR Indonesia also wants to emphasize that participatory guarantee does not depend on other people but the community itself.
Sustainable
PAMOR Indonesia builds a sustainable agricultural culture as a guarantee system for organic farmers and producers. Sustainability of organic farming is achieved through partnerships between producers, marketers, consumers, and other parties in a culture of mutual need, mutual trust, mutual convenience, and education. Thus, the market chain for organic products that has been built can continue, be independent and fair for all parties.
